Effective June 29, 2008 the Mailing List has been suspended indefinitely.

Why??

Managing the mailing list became too difficult and, after several years of trying, did not add enough value to the ZeppelinArt experience. Maybe this was my fault for not making better use of the mailing list, or my lack of time, but the challenges ran much deeper.

These challenges primarily revolved around anti-spam roadblocks put up by ISP's and web site hosts, even for low-volume, opt-in mailings. Overcoming these challenges was like navigating an obstacle course and just not worth the effort. And if the mail did go out, there were large numbers of bounces to handle, some because of ISP blocking, others because of legitimately bad email addresses.

Another challenge was the lack of low-cost mailing list software for Windows servers. I investigated the available scripts and tools but did not find one that met my criteria. Those that I tested tended to be very buggy, lacked necessary features or were too expensive for a small list.

Therefore, the decision was made to suspend the list. I may reconsider at some point in the future but in the meantime I will continue to post "What's New" information on the home page and archive all past news.
